Long-distance move from Alberta to Nova Scotia

Return of deposti.

This was a total nightmare! James May and Canadian moving lines were to move us from Edson Alberta to Amherst Nova Scotia on Oct 3. 2013. He changed the moving dates 3 times. Finally we had to tell him we couldn't wait any longer as we had to leave. We cancelled and requested a refund. He said give him 2 weeks. Then give him until the end of the month. And then stalled again and again. He wouldn't answer calls or text messages. Because we had to leave the next day we had to hire a company from Edmonton to move our stuff from Edson to Edmonton, which is two hrs away and it cost us $1300 for that. The new moving company we had to hire picked it up in Edmonton. We had to wait for close to a month for our stuff to arrive because that was only when this company was going back east. We had to come up with the extra money for this company without getting any resolve from James May. He lied and lied and lied. I am going to have to sue this company for my money. Complete losers!

Quick and Easy.

The movers arrived a little easrly to the pick-up destination but politely waited until I got there to meet them. PAcked everything up courteously and promptly. Always a good idea to watch over the packers to make sure everything is packed sufficiently, especially glass. I was sent the customs forms to fill out and faxed them back to the company. I called to ask when the expected delivery time would be and was given a /- 1 day window. They called the recipient to let them know when to expect the delivery, They got the job done. No hassles, no BS.

Money owed to me!

After MANY issues and damages and our motorcycle not being imported we sent pictures to James to file a claim for the damages. We found out that James pretended to be my husband and had someone pretend to be me to enter into a contract with another moving company. They knew this company did now allow subcontracting. After calls not being answered and being given excuses we were told by James in writing that he would reimburse us in full ($3172.00) by November 15, 2013. we have not received a penny, been told he's sick but would send the money and now he won't return emails or answer the phone. We were told to remove any negative comments in order to receive the reimbursement which we did. I have reopened the claim with the BBB and am beginning legal proceedings. This company has caused us more stress and financial strain than imaginable and we have a damaged motorcycle that we can't even register in the US since they didn't do what was promised. Please contact me if you have had similar issues to be a part of the legal action against Canadian Moving Lines/IML and James May.

Reliable professional moving.

Highly recommend Canadian Moving Lines! I had a very positive experience with a recent move. I found this company very professional & efficient. James in sales was very knowledgable and provided us with great advice. I felt like he cared about making the move a success. All my belongings arrived on time & in good condition. I would definately use them again.

Long-distance move from Alberta to Nova Scotia

Movers-Canadian Moving Lines.

Worst company I've ever dealt with, they used extortion to get more money out of us. They had our furniture and then asked for additional money, we had no choice but to pay more. Then we had to pay several thousand more to get our belongings from Pacific 2 Atlantic movers (contracted by CML to move our items) because CML wouldn't pay them for our move. We had to as well get the police involved. Please email me for further details. Get a moving company that is reputable and recommended by the Canadian Moving Association. Dont fall for the cheap price like we did and end up paying double as well as stolen and damaged belongings. James Mahama, kept promising to repay the $8500.00 CML took up front, I believe this was to prevent us from warning others. We have all documentation to back this up. We came close to losing all our things plus a car they were shipping, the mover (Atlantic 2 Pacific) threatened to auction our things off. We have several emails from others who have been ripped off by these people.

James May.

I'm suing "Canadian moving lines" if any one has any pending cases against this company could you let me know please? James, we tried to give you ample time to respond to our cancelation. You requested 2 weeks extension on the move, then another 4 to 6 weeks extension on the move finally when we could no longer be without our beds or furniture we canceled service with your company, things weren't working out. So I ask for my deposit back right? Of course I do, and James, you promised that if I waited till the end of the month you would return my money. Fine. Accounts payable what-not. So the end of the month comes and.. No money! We'll I'll wait a few days and see if it's clearing the bank.. Nope. So James here is where I called you and asked what the delay was. Not sure what the excuse was this time; boss on vacation? Request was sent? Anywho! By this time I'm so sick of delays and stall tactic that I start doing more research into the company and found this site. Then I agreed with another customer that your service was not great and I was having trouble getting my money. When we spoke again you called me an a@@hole and said you were staling my refund because of my post. I wonder what you will think of me now?
Ps thanks for moving my car. It's ok that that was late too.

Do not waste your time.

Missing Box of Stuffed animals and other boxes and items as well, Please message me if anything not belonging to you showed up in your move.We also have a wooden bed frame that is not ours with a green sticker on it. There are too many terrible things to write out that happened so I will put it in short form: late pick up,10 days late delivery, threatened to sell all our things at auction unless given more money, loss of important personal belongings and electronics, damage to imported instruments and furniture, financial loss, had to live without furniture in an empty house for a week, had to replace lost or stolen items, and buy new things to be able to survive without items for 10 days they were late. emotional stress from the entire ordeal,RCMP had to force them to unload, RCMP considered the acts of this company to be that of "extortion". Will not provide you with help unless you REMOVE YOUR BAD REVIEW.extremely manipulative,sub-contracts out extremely questionable companies.  This company is not worth any more of my time. My advice to you would be to stop reading the reviews for this company, and try one that is reputable and trustworthy, or better yet, get a truck and move your items yourself. Also goes by the name IML which has an "F" rating with the BBB. I will never trust another moving company again. The items I have lost are irreplaceable and I can only hope and pray that I will find them some day. Many of the items hold high sentimental value to me, and I have been suffering from their loss as a result. Keep the things you treasure most in this world in your own possession. You never truely know who is going to be handling them, or what they will be planning on doing once they have things of yours to seemlingly use as leverage against you. I welcome anyone to message me to share stories. .

Do not use this company.

Had contract with this company. They screwed up on the date for the move. They were late on the day I had them booked. I called to see how far behind the truck was. Then told that there was a screw up from there office to the office in edmonton. They said they would call me back. How dose a company only have one phone line?they never did call back. When I called them after giving my name they would not answer or return a phone call. They still took payment even tho they said that they cancelled the move a day later. Do not use this company.

Good Move Done.

After a comparison review my girlfriend and I chose Canadian Moving Lines to handle our move from Halifax to Fort McMurray. We are extremely glad we did. The movers wrapped our items carefully as most of our items were fragile. It's nice to know that there are movers out there that are totally profesional and handle all personal and family items with complete care and attention. We will not hesitate to use them again and recommend them to family and friends.

Worse Rating Than Poor.

Contract was for 3 men, flat fee. Only 2 men arrived. They broke the contract right off the bat. They complained about how much stuff there was, even though they recd pictures of everything getting moved before hand, the day before. They said they could still do it, but it would take longer. I said I didn't care how long it took, as I had a flat fee, so it would not cost me more. They knew nothing about what I paid or about the contract. They said it would cost me more. They called their boss a few times. I told them it was rude to speak a foreign language in front of me, about me and my move. They removed the truck from my driveway to leave (as per their boss). I called the police. The police came and said its a civil matter. I knew this already, but I wanted a report filed. I had told James I would be suing him. He laughed. He called back and started making absurd accusations. I have witnesses to everything said and done. They left me, a disabled woman. Alone, no house phone working, I don't drive, and i'm single. Very dishonest company. They had even left a message on my machine for a Christine a few days before my move, at midnight trying to explain to her why they didn't show up for her move the day before. Yet it was midnight when they finally tried to call her. James is a rude ignorant man. His language was abusive and offensive and I let him have a good piece of my mind. Lawyers are now involved as well.
